Update to Ball Prize Account – FAQs

Posted on: 31 July

What’s Changing about Ball Prizes from 1 August 2025

From 1 August 2025, all competition prizes – including Ball Prizes and vouchers – will be credited to your House Account.

This change means:

  • Ball Prizes will no longer expire
  • You’ll be able to use Ball Prizes in both the Clubhouse and Pro Shop
  • All transactions will appear in one place, making them easier to track under your member login

Please note that competition fees, green fees, and cart hire will continue to be paid separately.

What About Expired Ball Prizes (and Expired Ball Prize credits)?

To ensure a smooth transition, we’ll also be reinstating any Ball Prizes (and Ball Prize credits) that expired during 2025. These will be transferred to your House Account by 14 August 2025.

By mid-August:

  • Your Ball Prize Account balance will show as zero
  • Your House Account will have your Ball Prize balance added to it
  • All past transactions will remain visible for at least one year for you to refer back to if required.

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Ball Prize Account

Q1. What will happen to the current balance on my Ball Prize account?

The Ball Prize account will be inactive from 1 August. All Ball Prizes won from 1 August 2025 will go to your House Account instead.

The current balance on your Ball Prize account will be transferred to your House Account by 14 August 2025 in a two-step process:

  • Any Ball Prizes (and/or Ball Prize credits) that expired since 1 January 2025 will be reinstated to your Ball Prize account as one net amount. This amount is the net total of Ball Prizes and Ball Prize credits that have expired.
  • The total amount of reinstated Ball Prizes (and/or Ball Prize credits) plus your current Ball Prize account balance as at 31 July 2025 will be transferred to your House Account.

Q2. Wait! Why has my Ball Prize account decreased when the expired amounts are reinstated? That looks wrong!

Sometimes the competition results have to be updated (i.e. corrected) after they are posted to Members’ accounts. To do that, we:

  • Reverse the competition prizes, including Ball Prizes
  • Update the winnings sheet
  • Post the corrected prize amounts.

When this happens, you may notice three or more entries on your Ball Prize account relating to the same competition on one day (and at least one of these is a negative amount).

As a result, you will see negative Ball Prize amounts on your Ball Prize account next to line items described as ‘Competition Reversal’. Just like Ball Prizes, these Ball Prize credits have been expiring after 365 days. Unlike Ball Prizes, they have not been applied/used when you use your Ball Prize in the Pro Shop.

Therefore, when we reinstate expired Ball Prizes, we will also reinstate expired Ball Prize Credits. In some cases, a Member’s Ball Prize balance may decrease as a result.

The Expired Ball Prizes and Expired Ball Prize Credits net amount will equal the amounts in the Expired column of your Ball Prize account from 1 January 2025.

If you have questions about this, Jenny or Rananda in the office can provide a more detailed analysis of your Ball Prize expiries. (We certainly know that the Ball Prize account can be cumbersome to analyse and navigate!).

Q3. Now that Ball Prizes are going to my House Account will they expire in 12 months?

No. From 1 August 2025, Ball Prizes added to your House Account will not expire.

Q4. Will the existing Ball Prizes in my Ball Prize account stay in Ball Prize account?

No. Your Ball Prize account balance as at 31 July 2025 will be transferred as one amount to your House Account by 14 August, net of expiries reimbursed.

Q5. Can I view my old transactions?

Yes, your full Ball Prize Account transactions from 1 April 2022 remain available to review under ‘View Details’ in your membership section. We will keep this available for at least a year for you to refer to.

Q6. Can I pay for my competition fees, green fees and/or golf cart hire using my Ball Prize Account and/or my House Account?

No. As per normal ongoing practice, you must pay for all competition fees, green fees and golf cart hire prior to playing. You may not redeem prizes, vouchers as payment and you may not pay with any credit on your House Account.

Q7. Can I put money on my House Account when I am in the Pro Shop?

No. You can top your House Account up in the Clubhouse (at Reception or at the Bar) and through the member portal (in your app or via the website), but not from the Pro Shop.

Q8. Can I use my House Account to make purchases in the Pro Shop?
